Naki-ge Best 50

Eh, it may say games but easily 90% of the games listed there are all ero games. It's surprising that Fate and Tsukihime are rated so high, I didn't really find them that touching. Sharin no Kuni being no.1 has to be something, to actually beat Clannad

Clannad, AIR, Little Busters (no13) and KANON- No surprise there, Key is known for making games with touching scenarios. No.4's Kono Aozora was also a good game (played the PSP ver), no.7's Kazoku Keikaku had very good reviews, never tried it personally (same with no.10's G-sen).

Utawarerumono at no.20? Shocking. No.12's Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashino should have been higher. No.11's Moshiraba should also be higher, that game made me cried during the end of chapter 1 (the scenario and music left a hugh impression on me then)
Out of the 50 games listed, I've tried maybe around 12 games (out of which I've finished 5 games, in the sense of finishing the game or getting an ending with one of the heroines)

I'm thankful for playing Ar Tonelico, since it introduced to to Shikata and her music, which I truly enjoy listening to. She's a composer and singer-songwriter and can sing in Italian, Hymmnos and Japanese


EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY/. an insert song that was used during Ar Tonelico. THE song that made me an instant fan of Shikata. I lost track of how many times I played through a certain part of the game just to hear this song. I consider it the best song for the first Ar Tonelico game. 5 years on the road, I still can't stop listening to it every now and then


Katayoku no Tori used for the OP for Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Hmmm, the usual Akiko style with grand powerful vocal and chorus (all sung by Shikata) and a little Italian thrown in. Personally I find this better than Umineko no Naku Koro ni (the song and game title are the same)


Luna Piena, from her second album Raka. I swear everytime I listen to this, I feel like crying. So touching, beautiful


METHOD_IMPLANTA/. an insert song used for Ar Tonelico 2. The lyrics is just touching, didn't know there was so much meaning behind it. Let's see Composer Shikata, Singer/Chorus: Shikata, Lyrics: Mitose Noriko/ Shikata... LOL she pretty much made the whole song. It's something writing in Hymmnos, but Pastalia Hymmnos is even harder to write, because it doesn't look like normal words such as hYArAnAt (words in caps and words in small letters have different meanings, basically it's much harder to translate) My favorite Shikata song from 2

Ar Tonelico 3 Utahime: Mitose Noriko

Singer no.2 is Mitose Noriko. Seriously outside of Chrono Cross and Ar Tonelico, I've not heard her other songs.


Without a doubt, this is probably Mitose's most well known song. It's also somewhat well known that the director for the Chrono Cross game requested her to sing it. Good choice because Mitose has beautiful vocals


EXEC_SUSPEND/. used during as the ending song for phase 2 in the first Ar Tonelico game. She has been active during the making of the hymmnos concerts, doing the lyrics and singing for certain songs as well as creating lyrics in Hymmnos, an ancient language used in Ar Tonelico


こころ語り (Kokoro katari, the heart speaks) used an a insert song during the epilogue of Jakuri's ending. The male singer is Dahna. Well, the favorite ending, other than the Cocona one.

Next up is Shikata Akiko, who I think is considered the true Utahime of Ar Tonelico. She sings, composes and writes songs. Able to sing in Italian, Hymmnos and Japanese, talk about being multi talented, and she's actually quite pretty

Haven't really heard much of the cds, except for Sakiya=Rumei. The KOKIA songs are great, but I'm currently leaning towards Shikata Akiko still. Shikata was one of the main reasons why I enjoyed the songs so much

Ar Tonelico 3 Utahime: Shimotsuki Haruka

Since the release date for Ar Tonelico 3 the game is on 28th, I thought I'll just do a brief cap on our 3 well known utahimes. The three I'll touch on are Shimotsuki Haruka, Mitose Noriko and Shikata Akiko.

First up is Shimotsuki-san. For games, she has sung for Atelier series and Ar Tonelico series. She's also sang songs for anime and ero-games. She's released a bunch of doujin music before going commercial. Thinking whether to buy them, but it'll have to wait after I get my Shikata Akiko related cds


Hikari no Rasenritsu by Kukui. Kukui was a band that Shimotsuki was part of and was the singer for them. The song was used for the ending of the second season for Rozen Maiden, Rozen Maiden Traumend. Lovely calming song that I used to play a lot back then, before I'm shufling my music often due to lack of space


Kazahane, used for the ED of H2O~ Footprints in the Sand~ anime. It's a beautiful song, a little sad but somewhat touching to listen to. I played the game, but I didn't watch the anime though. Hah, just thinking about H2O makes me think of the game's lead girl, Kohinata Hayami. Was kind of crazy over her back then, but I still do like a lot now, compared to other anime/game girls


EXEC_LINCA/. a song that was used in Ar Tonelico. This was the most memorable song Shimotsuki sang in the first game. Wow, that was my first reaction when I heard it, back during 2006 I think

Up next is Mitose Noriko, the utahime for the third revateil. I didn't get to hear many songs from her, but the ending song she sang for Chrono Cross, Radical Dreamers is still a song I listen to often (I used it as my alarm for a certain time period)

So we do know what the song names are and who sang it. The OP song for the game, Harmonics Tilia is wonderful to listen to. As expected from Shikata Akiko and Tsuchiya Akira, Utau Ota has always been great(Just when I thought Harmonics Frelia can't be beaten). Hymmnos + KOKIA = Sure Win. KOKIA seems like she was made to sing for Ar Tonelico.

What's with the guys doing their hissatsus in underwear?? I'm sure on niconico video, Aoto's drill will be linked or referenced to Gurren Lagann. At 1:33 we get to see the purge ability in action. Cocona shown during in-game . Cosmosphere related events (chained-up Finnel and Soma-crystal related event) XaaCi sung by Mitose Noriko. To quote McDonalds I'm loving it. Sora no Woto

Sora no Woto, if I were to compare it to K-ON, has a much more unique storyline and has a greater muscial soundtrack. OP done by Kalafina, ED by Tomatsu Haruka, music by Oshima Michiru (she did the soundtrack for Ico) it's quite beautiful to listen to. Sorami Kanata is rather likeable and easier on the ears than Hirazawa Yui. After watching 2 episodes on youtube, I say it should be a good show

To anyone reading this, I'd like to say that this post may anger you due to some of the issues raised during this rant. Also, the pictures shown feature top nudity and nipples. If you have any issues or problems regarding animted nudity, a brother sister having an incestious sexual relationship, please stop reading on. You have been warned!

So I saw the Ova (1 animated episode that came with the limited edition vol3 of the manga). My main question was really how to categorise it. Would it come under anime, despite showing top nudity or under the ero anime section, since Sora did it with his siser Aki (although nothing graphic was drawn down there). So under the direction of Kuroda Kazuya (Vandread, Spice and Wolf), characters are drawn very nicely. The bad was Aki kept reminding me of Spice and Wolf's Holo

Akisora the OVA was pretty much a compressed chapter 1, with some parts from chapter 3 used. Two rather sexual scenes were shown during the episode, basically Aki giving Sora a handjob and their first intercourse. Akisora the manga was much more harcore and brought up stuff that I suppose would be considered somewhat problematic. Subjects such as incest, rape (Sora's twin sister raped him during one chapter), exhibisionism (Runa, who lives in the same apartment complex). Sora also has done it with other girls other than his sisters (it numbers up to 7 or so, due mostly to situations)

Regarding seiyuus, the seiyuus used for the drama cd are different from the OVA. I suppose it would be bad for Imai Asami and Kitamura Eri

Quite interesting with the usual harem type comedy. Let's see, we have youkais and ayakashis, nekomimi sword wielding samurai Himari, boobs, action, Koshimizu Ami, Tamura Yukari, love triangle, on the borderline almost ero scenes. Only thing I didn't really enjoy was the main guy's voice, it reminded me of School Day's Itou Makoto. Maybe it is the same voice. Last but not least, Himari super nice body!!

Woohoo, it's Cocona! Question is whether she's vanguard or revateil during battles, or can she do both? So as the 3rd revateil in the party, she gets an ending with Aoto? Then what about our Ar Tonelico 2 main char, Chroah? Looks like she's grown up a little, but whether her personality is still the same as the previous game is another. Whatever, Cocona was awesome in 2, so it leaves the question of which girl I'll chase for my 1st run, FInnel or Cocona

Eh, the previous version had the center girl hidden, which would mean that Cocona is pretty much confirmed as girl no.3. The 3rd girls are usually pretty popular and sung by Mitose Noriko. 1 had Shurelia, revateil Origin and administrator of the 1st tower. Clumsy and having a terrible sense of direction, her popularity among fans is still high. 2 had Jakuri, real name Mule who was the last boss for 1. As a Beta blood revateil, she's powerful and useful in battle. She wasn't purely evil and going through her cosmosphere, we learned why she did the things she did. Her end was still the best among the girls in my opinion

Probably the most unique and interesting series that aired in Japan recently. Visually cool and weird at times, the OP staple staple sung by Saito Chiwa is pretty nice to listen to. Supercell was involved, doing the ED song for the series. Saito also voices Senjyogahara Hitagi, who is really very different from most anime heroines. Her weapon/weapons of choices are stationery equipment such as scissors, penknives and most commonly her staplers. Started watching the first episode and it's caught my attention

Sure, having your special moves written in kanji is pretty darn cool, but translating it is a pain in the ass. Of course the ones where the special attack's name shows up on screen once it's done is better. An example would be like this


At 0:48 to 0:50 the kanji Shinha Goushousen shows up. Sure, it's a little out of this world, his aura splits the heavens and earth, his punches literally destroys the area around him and can easily break mountains. Exaggerated yes, but it wins on so many levels
